Quillane Apollo 2007 Highlights

Quillane Apollos' 2007 year began in February when he was brought to a local barn with an indoor and 18 horses in residence. The entertainment level for him went from a 2 to a 10 and being there was like a child going into school for the first time. He loved it! The work ethic of this stallion was exactly as I had hoped. Amy Cody, my daughter rode him daily and took lessons with local dressage instructor Nicky Graf, while I continued with his long line schooling towards his driving career.

In March he was ready to hook and we had him driving around the indoor with complete confidence.
He seemed to really like driving and never even flicked and ear over it. One more drive indoors and out we went. April 4 he officially turned 5 and I was really happy with his progress both under saddle and in harness.
Amy scheduled a few dressage tests at a local dressage schooling show and he whowed the general locals with his good looks, excellent behavior and his very steady and correct tests.

May brought his first foals for the 2007 season, Lejends Pilot a big chestnut colt with the signature Nebo blaze, out of Keoka Amyethyst a daughter of the late and talented Nesscliffe Sunrise. The colt Lejends Ode to Welsh Rite a classic chestnut, four socks and a blaze, sporting grandfathers Merioneth Merlyn and Okeden Sensation.
The third colt KL Radio Flyer, a bay with a blaze and three whites out of Crossroads Countess, a daughter of Crossroads Flying Colors has now got me wondering " where are the fillies?"
Then the phone call from Ohio! Its a filly! Apollos' First Lady, bay with stockings out of a lovely bay mare JC Stillmeadow Darlin Capitola. Followed by the chestnut filly Deer Hollow Fair Lady, out of Dinas' Taffe a Merioneth Merlyn daughter and last but not least KL Solara a beautiful palomino filly out of Madoc Countess a daughter of the Grand Prix Dressage Champion Kenchurch Chime. During the foaling and breeding season, Apollo continued his education and show season with his Championship wins at our New England Welsh Show, and especially exciting to us was his spectacular win in the Ridden Cob with Amy.

June was Apollos driving debute in Arcadia, Maine where we participated in a benefit drive for Mary Grays bid to attend the next World Championships for Drivers with Disabilities. We drove over 2 days, 25 miles up and around the beautiful carriage roads of Arcadia National Park. This was a great weekend for our boy who as usual turned many heads with his manners and Welsh Cob style.
The rest of the summer and fall for Apollo was spent being ridden or driven on our local cranberry bogs and attending dressage clinics with Amy.

2007 was a very big year for our boy and 2008 even bigger with his first serious USDF dressage competitions, his first Combined Driving Event, and hopefully 9 new colts or fillies.
